T minus 13 days and counting!

Today I watched the show that Steve Irwin died while filming, called "Ocean's Deadliest." Apparently all of the things that are most likely to kill you can be found in the oceans of Australia. The deadliest is the box jellyfish (right), which you may remember are what Dory and Marlin encountered in Finding Nemo. Luckily, they're only found on the Northern coast, which I will not be anywhere near. As for the other animals... I will just pretend that I have not watched said program, as I intend to swim, snorkel, and surf my way through the semester.

I have made some progress in the way of Australia preparations. I got my international cell phone, set up my bank account, bought some hiking shoes (ha!), and got adapters so I will not fry my beloved mac. I've also read some Australian guidebooks, which made me realize that there is way too much I want to see for me to possibly do. But I shall certainly try!

In the way of packing (which my mom keeps bugging me to do), I have not made any progress. Maybe I will start this weekend... maybe...

I've also heard back from two internships I applied for, so maybe there is hope for an internship even with my super-shortened summer break this year. Yay!

sweet!

I would like to thank my dear roomie Caitlin for showing me this amazing website, where you can make yourself in m and m form. I chose to go with an Australian theme... (of course I will be finding buried treasure when I am there). I think it's pretty sweet, though it wouldn't let me pick my real hair color (which is much darker of course).

Here's mine, and you can make your own at http://www.becomeanmm.com. Enjoy!

20 days (3 weeks minus a day) until I leave.

I actually got a job this week, through a temp agency, being a greeter and prize register-er at Peruzzi Toyota on 309. After trying to be professional for the first two days, I gave in and finally brought some reading material to stem the mind-numbing boredom. Nothing beats getting paid to read Harry Potter for $10 an hour.

So the fact that I'm leaving is finally starting to sink in. And, take it from Maggie, asking me about leaving while watching an especially heart-wrenching Grey's episode causes the usage of many tissues. Bad idea.

Well, February 8th is getting closer, and soon I shall be lying on a beach, wishing I was in snow-covered Ithaca (hopefully you can detect my sarcasm).

:-D

one month? seriously?

As the Singapore kids are in Singapore and Jeremy writes on his blog, and the London kids are leaving for London and Dan writes his first post, I am feeling left out. I have one calendar month, or 31 days to be precise, until I leave to go work on my Aussie accent. So, I thought I'd post for the heck of it.

What am I doing with myself, you might ask? I applied for a job at a temp agency, so I'm waiting to hear if they find anything for me. In the meantime, I am applying for internships, becoming a gym rat, and otherwise watching a lot of trashy daytime television. Exciting, eh?

Well to all of my friends that are in their exciting destinations already: good luck, have fun, and stay safe. Love you all <3
