On Wednesday we had the day off from class, so we visited Brighton, home to the famous Brighton Beach bath houses.
We walked along the shore line (as you must do whenever you visit a beach) in bare feet despite the brisk fall temperatures. Washed up along the shore were several starfish (above), which were quite beautiful. We found one with a missing limb (above). Mary found the separated appendage a few feet away, and was disgusted when she felt its suckers still sucking on her finger (above). The shore was also full of awesome shells that we collected (above). Hopefully Customs will let us bring them back in.
Finally we got to the bath houses (with Melbourne in the background, above). They are just wooden sheds that people own that sit on the beach. The houses act as changing rooms and storage units, but mostly I think they are just there for aesthetic appeal. They are decorated with very bright colors and different designs. It was pretty cool.
